Travis Scott Made Aware of Crowd Concerns Before Deadly Crush at Concert
Reports indicate Houston’s police chief, Troy Finner, expressed concerns about crowd control to rapper Travis Scott a few hours before eight concert goers were killed and scores of others injured by a crowd surge during Scott’s concert at Astroworld in Houston, Texas on November 5, 2021.
A crowd estimated at 50,000 people packed NRG Park to watch Scott perform. When Scott took the stage, pandemonium erupted. The crowd pushed forward and fans in front of the surging mass were crushed—some died while others suffered anything from minor to serious injuries.
This is not the first time that crowd surge has caused death and injuries. Experts who have studied the phenomena have concluded that density plays a significant role in fatal crowd surge events.
When concert promoters, for example, pack too many people into a small space, crowd surge injuries and deaths are a foreseeable consequence. All it takes is a barrier in front of a dense crowd surging toward something they want and disaster becomes inevitable. It has been reported the force of a surging crowd can be strong enough to bend steel, to crush ribs and lungs, to asphyxiate those caught by the crush.
The Wyatt Law Firm sends out our condolences to the families of those that were killed during this tragic event in Houston, and we wish a speedy recovery for those who were injured. We also want you to know we are here for you to help you through this tragedy.
While Travis Scott has reportedly offered to cover the funeral expenses of those that were killed, and to refund the ticket prices for all others in attendance, this gesture does not provide full compensation to those that were injured and to those whose loved ones were killed.
The Wyatt Law Firm Can Help You
Wyatt Law Firm’s concert accident lawyers completely understand the grief and devastation being experienced by families of fans who were killed because of the crowd surge at Scott’s concert. Similarly, we are well aware of the turmoil those who were injured during the concert are undergoing trying to deal with the emotional and physical consequences of their injuries.
Funeral expenses and a refund are clearly not enough to fully compensate the families of those who died, or to remedy the pain, suffering, mental anguish and medical expenses endured by those who were injured. In fact no settlement will ever be large enough to compensate for the loss of a loved one, or the loss of enjoyment of life due to injury.
When it comes to the quest for justice, we at the Wyatt Law Firm provide responsive and trusted representation for our clients. We listen to what our clients and their families have to say. A Wyatt Law Firm client is not just another face among many relegated to dealing with legal assistants and paralegals—our lawyers take a personal interest in each and every client we represent.
If your loved one lost their life because of the crowd surge at the Travis Scott concert, or you suffered injuries because you were crushed or trampled by the dense crowd at the concert, do not wait to get the justice you deserve.
