Did you get (or give) a multi-cooker for Christmas? Check the label
Air fryers, crock pots, deep fryers, pressure cookers and multi-cookers are all popular kitchen items, and they’re often given as gifts for the holidays to the foodies in the family.
Unfortunately, some of those items can be dangerous, if not outright deadly, when they malfunction.
Sunbeam Products issued a massive recall of it’s Crock-Pot multi-cookers
Crock-Pot is one of the biggest names in the business when it comes to cookware, so many consumers gravitate toward their products. They generally expect Crock-Pot items to be better-made than random knock-off brands.
That’s not always the case, however. Sunbeam Products, Crock-Pot’s parent company, has
recalled a million multi-cookers due to safety issues. The recall includes Crock-Pot 6-Quart Express Crock Multi-Cookers with the model number SCCPPC600-V1, all sold between July 2017 and November 2020. Many were purchased through Walmart, Amazon or Target.
The recall is voluntary, which is good. What’s not so great is that it only came after 119 reports that the lids on the multi-cookers were prone to detaching while in use. A total of 99 victims have suffered burn injuries as a result.
If you have one of these items in your kitchen, you’re urged to stop using it immediately. Reach out to Crock-Pot for more information on the recall and a replacement lid.
