The San Antonio Police Department has shut down a portion of Interstate 35 at Rittiman Road after several cars were damaged driving over large potholes.
Two lanes had to be shut down after damp weather caused two large potholes to appear. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, drivers should expect to see more potholes like it as long as the weather remains wet.
Drivers are encouraged to report potholes by dialing “3-1-1” and to decrease their speed to reduce the damage that driving over these potholes can cause.
The rain can also present a number of other risks to drivers. Low visibility and slick surfaces are common causes of weather-related car accidents during rainy months.
