Crews Responding To Large Explosion At San Antonio Cement Company

Flash fire at Capital Cement plant in northeast San Antonio injures three workers.

What crews are calling a " flash fire" ripped through a San Antonio coal mill at a cement plant owned by Capital Cement around 2:00pm today. According to first responders, three men who worked at the plant were transported to nearby hospitals to be treated for burns. They were all conscious after the incident and are not considered to be in critical condition. Two of the three workers are also being evaluated for possible chemical inhalation.

Thankfully, the site had a properly functioning carbon dioxide suppression system that was able to extinguish the flame soon after it ignited. Initial reports are still coming in and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
