Three-Alarm Condo Fire Injures Two

Three-Alarm Condo Fire Injures Two

Two people were injured in a three-alarm fire that spread through the Belleza Condominiums in Ponte Vedra, St. Johns County, Florida this morning. Although this fire occurred in Florida, the news hits close to home for those who have been affected by recent San Antonio-area building fires, such as the Wedgwood Senior Living Center, Villa Tranchese apartment fire, and the La Paloma apartment fire.

The victims are a condo resident and a firefighter who responded to the emergency. Both suffered only minor injuries. Authorities say that residents quickly evacuated once the building's alarm system sounded. No word on whether or not the building was fitted with a sprinkler system. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

WHAT CAN I DO IF I WAS A VICTIM OF A RESIDENTIAL FIRE?

If you were affected by a residential fire, at an apartment building, a condo, or a home, you may be able to seek financial compensation for damage. Many residential building fires could have been avoided had proper precautions been taken, and many are caused by acts of negligence or strict liability, including:

  • Failure to install a smoke detector or alarm system
  • Failure to install fire sprinklers
  • Failure to implement evacuation guidelines
  • Defective heating or electrical units
